eHealthsummit.pt promove a inovação e a transformação digital em saúde. As edições anteriores contribuíram para alavancar a saúde digital ao nível do país e à escala internacional. Em 2021, esta temática adquire especial relevância e um maior significado para todos os cidadãos.
Com o objetivo de melhorar a qualidade dos cuidados de saúde e reduzir as desigualdades no acesso, a Presidência Portuguesa do Conselho da União Europeia (PPUE), que decorre no 1.º semestre do ano, apresenta as linhas de ação que contribuem para o desenvolvimento da transformação digital na área da saúde.
eHealthsummit.pt assume-se, assim, como a principal iniciativa da PPUE no âmbito da saúde digital.

Prof. Dr. Frank Ulrich Montgomery, a radiologist from Hamburg, is President of the Standing Committee of European Doctors (CPME). Prior to taking on this role, he served as Vice-President and Treasurer of the CPME.
He is Chairperson of Council of the World Medical Association (WMA) and past President of the German Medical Association (GMA) 2011-2019.
During the COVID-19 crisis, she has been leading the Commission’s work to coordinate the EU’s health response and support Member States to tackle the pandemic. She is responsible for the EU’s Vaccine Strategy in order to procure safe and effective vaccines for all EU Member States and Europe’s broader neighborhood. She is also responsible for the establishment of a strong European Health Union and supporting Member States to strengthen healthcare systems and deliver better patient outcomes for all EU citizens.
Previously, Commissioner Kyriakides worked as a clinical psychologist in the Mental Health Services of the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Cyprus in the area of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, from 1979-2006. In 2006, she was elected to the Cyprus Parliament and was re-elected in 2011 and 2016 for the Democratic Rally party, of which she was the Vice-President.

Dr. Carriazo is currently Senior Advisor at the Regional Ministry of Health and Families of Andalusia, Spain, (since 2008) and Reference Site Collaborative Network Vice-chair (since 2017). Before, she worked at the Andalusian Health Service for more than 19 years (health information systems, e-health, healthcare basket of services among others).
She got her Degree in Medicine (1986) and her PhD in Public Health (1997) at the University of Seville. She also holds a Degree in Statistics of the Autonomous University of Barcelona (2001). She is specialist in Preventive Medicine and Public Health (2003).
Ander Elustondo Jauregui works as a Policy Officer at the Directorate-General for Health and Food Safety, at the European Commission. His work focuses on the use and re-use of data in health, and the use of artificial intelligence and digital health services and products. He currently contributes to the creation of the European Health Data Space (EHDS). He has a background in engineering and computer science.

She is the Chair of the COST Action NET4Age-Friendly, Coordinator of the Stakeholders Network on SHAFE – Smart Healthy Age-friendly Environments, Vice-President of the European Covenant on Demographic Change and CEO of an SME, SHINE 2Europe.
She is evaluator/reviewer for the European Commission, Eureka, AAL and EIT Digital; member of the Expert Team developing the EU Ethics framework for the ICT Profession, as external expert for CEN/CENELEC; and Team Leader of the group of experts designing the Reference Guidelines in the Field of Ethics, Data Privacy and Security, contracted by the AAL Programme; as well as member of the Standing Committee on Policy and Advocacy of the International Health Literacy Association.
Ceri Thompson is Deputy Head of the eHealth, Well-Being and Ageing Unit in DG CNECT and works towards the digital transformation of health and care. Ceri has previous experience at Eurostat, and for DG SANTE in the Commission. Prior to joining the EU institutions, she worked on global health policy at the UK’s Department for International Development and for KPMG’s international healthcare practice, as well as on epidemiological research projects in the UK and Brazil. She studied Maths at Durham University, UK and then Public Health at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine.
Isabelle Chatelier is a policy officer at the European Commission, DG SANTE, unit B3.
She is a lawyer specialised in data protection.
Dr. Montaner created the Neurovascular Research Laboratory at the Vall d’Hebron Neurovascular Unit in Barcelona in 2001 and he is the director of the Stroke Programme at IBIS-HVR, Sevilla, since 2013 where he also leads the Neurology Department at Macarena University Hospital. In 2018 he was appointed Coordinator of the Andalusian region Stroke Care Plan.

Since December 2015, Kurt is Director of Business Creation at EIT Health, one of the largest healthcare initiatives worldwide with 150 leading organizations spanning key areas of healthcare such as Pharma, MedTech, Payers, Research Institutions and Universities. Kurt is leading the EIT Health Accelerator supporting more than 500 startups with close access to all leading players in health industry and a budget of more than 15mio€ per year. Within Innolife, the preparation consortium of EIT Health, Kurt was part of the Executive Committee as a spokesperson for all German academic partners.
From 2009 to 2015, Kurt has been the managing director of the Central Institute of Healthcare Engineering (ZIMT) at Friedrich-Alexander-University (FAU). Since then he has gone on to found and direct several other companies: CiNNAMED GmbH (2013, CEO and co-founder), Portabiles GmbH (2014, CFO and co-founder), and HOELLER ELECTRONIC GmbH (CEO in 2015). Since May 2015 he has been a member of the city council in Erlangen and member of the supervisory board of ESTW AG.
After attaining his Diploma of Electrical Engineering at Friedrich-Alexander-University (FAU), he gained his Doctorate at FAU with research stays at TU Munich and Johns Hopkins University (JHU), USA. His research activities focused heavily on health innovation, with his thesis on “Novel Techniques for Spatial Orientation in Natural Orifice Translumenal Endoscopic Surgery (NOTES)”. He has published 30 journal articles, conference papers and patents. Kurt went on to earn an MBA with focus on Entrepreneurship at Deggendorf Institute of Technology (THD) with a research stay at Santa Clara University in the Silicon Valley.

Desde 2003, é Professora Catedrática da Faculdade de Economia da Universidade de Coimbra e Investigadora Permanente no Centro de Estudos Sociais da Universidade de Coimbra. É autora e coautora de diferentes livros e artigos sobre Regulação Pública, Direito da Concorrência e Serviços Público.
Entre 2015 e 2019, foi Deputada à Assembleia da República. No mesmo período, foi ministra da Presidência e da Modernização Administrativa do governo português. Foi também secretária de Estado da Modernização Administrativa dos XVIII e XVII Governos Constitucionais (2007–2011).
No âmbito das funções desempenhadas junto de instituições da União Europeia, foi Membro do Grupo de Alto Nível sobre os Encargos Administrativos (Comissão Europeia) entre 2013-2014; e, em 2002, foi Perita da Comissão Europeia para elaboração de um Relatório sobre o Ensino Superior em Angola e Moçambique no âmbito do Programa-Quadro de Cooperação para o Ensino Superior UE-ACP.
Em 2019 foi eleita deputada ao Parlamento Europeu para a 9.ª legislatura (2019-2024). No âmbito das suas atividades parlamentares, é vice-presidente da Comissão do Mercado Interno e Proteção dos Consumidores e membro suplente das comissões AIDA, ITRE e FEMM. Desenvolve trabalho com especial enfoque nas áreas do digital, da ciência e inovação, da proteção dos consumidores e segurança dos produtos, e da igualdade de género. Martha is Mechanical Engineer with MBA’s in International Relations and Business Administration (SUNY at Albany), and post grade in Telecommunications. Currently she is Leader of the EMEA Digital Health Policy Working Group, responsible for establishing regulatory and advocacy strategies on digital health related matters such as Artificial Intelligence, Cybersecurity, Interoperability and Reimbursement, and Member of the Product Security Leadership Committee. Martha is the former leader of the EMEA Radio Frequency & Cybersecurity Center of Excellence supporting the OUs.
Martha leads Digital Health advocacy effort as Vice Chair of MedTech Europe (MTE)’s Digital Health Committee and Chair of the MTE Cybersecurity WG, as well as is Vice Chair of the MTE’s AI WG and member of the MTE’s Software WG. Martha is also member of Avicenna Alliance’s Policy Development WG, supporting Medtronic Core Technologies on advocacy on Computer Modeling and Simulation (CM&S) and its integration with AI. As well she is member of Medtronic AI Working Group. Martha leads the Medtronic Interoperability Working Group with responsibilities on leading the creation of Medtronic strategy on Interoperability and defining specific goals and deliverables for the company’s business and advocacy purposes.
Martha is also inventor and innovator, and volunteers as Lead of the Innovation Committee EMEA, generating discussions and necessary partnerships with MDT scientists on new technologies that might be implemented by MDT, generating forum events by engaging internal and external speakers. Martha also leads the Rheumatic Diseases CoP (a Technical Forum CoP) which aim is to find therapies and solutions for Rheumatic and Autoimmune diseases.
Martha represents MDT as member of the following organizations: European Commission’s AI Alliance; Member of the European Network and Information Security Agency (ENISA)’s eHealth Security Experts Group; member of IEEE PHD Cybersecurity WG, member of ETSI CYBER Technical Committee and ETSI Special Interest Group on Securing AI.
Mervi Kattelus has a legal background and she has worked as a Health Policy Adviser in the Finnish Medical Association since 2009. Previously she worked in the Ministry of Social Affairs and Health and was responsible for health care legislation and EU affairs. Ms. Kattelus is a secretary of the FMA’s Ethics Committee. Recently, she was a chief editor in the Medical Ethics book, published in 2021 by the Finnish Medical Association.
Michael Strübin is Director Digital Health at MedTech Europe, the European trade association for the medical technology industry including diagnostics, medical devices and digital health. Michael helps develop the medtech industry’s voice in the digital health field and represents MedTech Europe’s members vis-à-vis digital health policymakers and stakeholders. Prior to joining Medtech Europe in 2018, Michael worked for other associations in the digital health field including the Continua Health Alliance and HIMSS. Michael is based in Brussels, Belgium.
Minna Hendolin has several years management and leadership experience both in private and public organization resulting in a wide knowledge in health sector business ecosystems, innovation and financing. At her recent positions at government funding and innovation organizations Business Finland and Sitra, she actively contributes to national, Nordic and EU-level health sector innovation strategies and policies. She is an active influencer and thought leader in international networks like World Economic Forum Expert Group, and United Nation Innovation Lab in health. Her mission is to boosts the digital transformation in healthcare and at her current role at Sitra especially facilitate the journey towards joint European Health Data Space as a part of the European Commission Data Strategy. She holds a doctoral degree in biochemistry.

He holds a degree in medicine and electric engineering. During his career, he worked as a clinical researcher in numerous health innovation programs for pharma, medtech and health IT. He is a key expert on Digital Health and integrated care for various governments on different continents, NGO’s, multi-nationals and start-ups.
